The Cocopah Human Resources Department, established more than 25 years ago, is located in the Tribal Headquarters building on the West Reservation. This department works under the supervision of the Cocopah Tribal Council and works directly with the Tribal Administration Department.

The Human Resources Department oversees all hiring policies and procedures and employee attendance records. This includes the hiring processes for the Cocopah Casino, the Cocopah Korner, the Cocopah Bend RV and Golf Resort and the Cocopah Rio Colorado Golf Course. The department also maintains personal employee files, evaluates employee time sheets and reviews all applications.

Job Title:
RV Maintenance Supervisor

Description:
With in the RV & Golf Resort Maintenance Department
Under the direction of the Resort General Manager. The Maintenance Supervisor provides general maintenance services to the RV & Golf Resort.


Qualifications:

  • At least two years experience in custodial and grounds work, preferably with some supervisory experience
  • High School graduate/GED
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Knowledge in the operations, care and safety practices of standard maintenance equipment, i.e., floor polishers, power tools, mowers/tractors, & hand tools
  • Presentation of professional appearance and demeanor a must

Job Title:
Tribal Police Officer

Description:
Within the Tribal Police Department
The primary function of the incumbent of this position is to investigate, apprehend, arrest and detain all persons charged with violations of the Cocopah Law and Order Code, Tribal Ordinance, State and Federal Statutes, applicable.


Qualifications:

  • Must be AZ Post Certified
  • High School graduate or GED
  • Completion of Police Science
  • Must be able to meet age, height, and weight standards
  • Must be able to pass current physical test standards

Job Title:
Assistant Finance Director

Description:
Within the Finance Department
Under the general supervision of the finance Director, the Assistant to the Finance Director is responsible for completing and processing reports, various financial granting agencies, reconciling general ledger accounts, assisting with the supervising of staff of the Cocopah Finance Department.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in business or accounting or related field or
  • Associate Degree with three (3) years related work experience or
  • Any combination of education and five (5) years of finance accounting experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the position duties
  • High School Diploma/GED required

Job Title:
Assistant Tribal Administrator

Description:
Within the Administration
Position reports to the Tribal Administrator and assists the administrator in all aspects of planning, Programming, inter-governmental relations and administrative functions. Appointee will be required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement to safe guard all sensitive and confidential information.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Associates degree in business, public administration, business administration or related field
  • Experience of at least one year of supervising a staff of at least 25
  • Ability to understand, develop and implement fiscal budget programs
  • Demonstrated computer knowledge in areas such as Microsoft Office and the Internet
  • Must have a valid diver’s license and be insurable

Sales and Events Manager

Description:

Director of Communications

Description:
Within the Public Relations Department
Oversees the areas of public relations, media relations, marketing and advertising for the tribe and tribal businesses; creates and maintains a favorable public image for the Cocopah Indian Tribe and businesses; develops and implements marketing, communications and public relations support materials and services.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Masters Degree (preferred) and four (4) years of experience in communications, public relations, or legislative research and / or advocacy
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in public administration, communications, journalism or related field

Job Title:
Level II Caregiver

Description:
Within the Residential Youth Home
Coordinates variety of activities for the Youth Home. Provides care to youth ages 5 to 18 years of age. Level I works under the direction of the Level II caregiver and the Level II caregiver works under the direction of the Director of the Youth Home.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • AA+ 2 years experience in related field preferred or a combination of education and experience working directly with youth
  • CPR/Red Cross Training certificate & Food handler’s certificate must be obtained

Job Title:
Assistant Community Center Coordinator

Description:
Within the Community Center
Plans and arranges social and recreational activities of various tribal groups, according to tribal policies and regulations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. This position requires flexible work hours to include evenings and weekends and on call if required.

Job Title:
Bioterrorism Coordinator

Description:
Within the Tribal Administration Department
This position is under the direction of the Tribal Administrator and primarily within the ADHS/BT grant program. The position as "Bioterrorism Coordinator" is with the ADHS format requirements and deliverable of Tribes maintaining a bioterrorism coordinator as the prime program contact between ADHS and the Tribe. The Bioterrorism Coordinator is responsible for managing, coordinating and implementing the ADHS/BT grant program directives for emergency response to public health issues. This position is dependent upon continued federal CDC grants.


Qualifications:

  • Higher education in the public health education field or past work experience preferred
  • 3-5 years in public health management activities or emergency management operations
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a MVD printout of driving record

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

1. Once I have turned in my application, what is the review process?
Once applications have been reviewed, the Human Resources Department will invite selected applicants to an interview panel. The panel will comprise at least one tribal member and the appropriate department director.

The Cocopah Tribal Council will then receive the interview panel’s reviews of the applicants during its monthly regular council meeting, and based upon the recommendations of the panel, the Tribal Council will make the final decision.

The chosen candidate will then be notified. The hiring process can take approximately one month.

2. When is the best time to reach the Human Resources Department?
You can reach the department Monday through Friday
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

3. I am interested in an open position at the Cocopah Casino. Where do I apply?
You may download an application from the Cocopah Casino website or pick up an application in person at the casino. Once applications have been reviewed, the Human Resources Department will invite selected applicants to an interview panel, where at least one tribal member and the appropriate department director will be present.

4. What are the Native American and current employee employment preference policies?
In accordance with applicable law, if two applicants are equally qualified for a position, the candidate who is a tribal member or Native American will be given preference. The Cocopah tribe works to enhance its resources, to improve the local economy and to improve the standards of living for tribal members.

Current employee employment preference states that if a current employee and a second applicant both apply for the same position and are equally qualified, the current employee will be awarded additional points by the interview panel.

5. I am interested in an open position, and it says the position is “at will”; what does that mean?
“At will” means that at any time, you or the Tribal Administration is free to terminate your employment with or without prior notice.

6. If I am hired for a position with the Cocopah Indian Tribe, will I be offered benefits?
After a 120-day training period, you will be eligible for life, medical, dental and prescription benefits if you are a full-time employee.
