COCOPAH EMPLOYMENT


Established over 25 years ago, the Cocopah Human Resources Department, located in the Tribal Headquarters building on the West Reservation, oversees all hiring policies and procedures and employee attendance records. This includes the hiring processes for Cocopah Casino, Cocopah Korner, Cocopah Bend RV & Golf Resort and Cocopah Rio Colorado Golf Course. The department also maintains personal employee files, evaluates employee time sheets and reviews all applications.

The Human Resources Department works under the supervision of the Cocopah Tribal Council and works directly with the Tribal Administration Department.

Job Title: Cocktail Server

Entity: Wild River Family Entertainment Center
Type: Part-Time

Description:
Serves beverages to patrons seated at tables in bar or cocktail lounge, bowling lanes and party rooms, by performing the following duties.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

Job Title: Assistant Tribal Administrator

Entity: Cocopah Tribal Government
Type: Full-Time

Description:
Position reports to the Tribal Administrator and assists the Administrator in all aspects of planning, programming, inter-governmental relations and administrative functions. Appointee will be required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement to safe guard all sensitive and confidential information.

Qualifications:

  • Experience of at least one year of supervising a staff of at least 25
  • Ability to understand, develop and implement fiscal budget programs
  • Demonstrated computer knowledge in areas such as Microsoft Office and the Internet
  • Minimum of Associates Degree in business, public administration, business administration or related field.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and be insurable.




Job Title: Assistant Marketing Director

Entity: Cocopah Casino
Type: Full-Time

Description:
Reports directly to the Marketing Director and assists with assigned projects and activities for marketing services. Maintain marketing database including catalogs, player?s club system and customer/prospect files. Produces regularly scheduled reports from marketing database. Coordinate various marketing fulfillment duties and systems including direct mail, packages, letters, catalogs and other sales literature. Assist in implementing public relations programs, online events and trade shows. Assist in managing the player's club department.

Qualifications:

  • Computer skills a must, preferably with Microsoft Office Professional software, and able to work with software/hardware designed for Casino Players Club.
  • All applicants must be at least 21 years of age.

  • AA degree in Business Administration.




Job Title: Bioterrorism Coordinator

Entity: Cocopah Tribal Government
Type: Full-Time

Description:
This position is under the direction of the Tribal Administrator and primarily within the ADHS/BT grant program. The position as "Bioterrorism Coordinator" is with the ADHS format requirements and deliverable of Tribes maintaining a bioterrorism coordinator as the prime program contact between ADHS and the Tribe. The Bioterrorism Coordinator is responsible for managing, coordinating and implementing the ADHS/BT grant program directives for emergency response to public health issues. This position is dependent upon continued federal CDC grants.

Qualifications:

  • Higher education in the public health education field or past work experience preferred
  • 3-5 years in public health management activities or emergency management operations
  • Must possess a valid drivers license with a MVD printout of driving record.




Job Title: Bar Manager

Description:
Under the direction of the Food & Beverage Director. Coordinates activities of workers engaged in selling alcoholic beverages for consumption on premises by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • Basic math skills are essential.
  • Must be able to stand and walk a minimum of 8 hours daily.
  • Must have 5 years of supervisory experiences.




Job Title: Grants Writer

Entity: Cocopah Tribal Government
Type: Full-Time

Description:
To review and assess all planning priorities with key staff members and Tribal Council and establish a priority grant need for the tribe. Pursue funds for Tribal Council to improve the community services.

Qualifications:

  • Experience writing grants for economic development projects, education/training, health services, and social service areas preferred.
  • Familiarity with state and federal guidelines and regulations for state contracts and grants, and federal grants and contracts preferred.

  • Must have a good background in financial/budget developing process and cost analysis.
  • Must have at least (2) two years of experience working with local governments and understand
    The government development process.
  • Computer literate; familiarity with word processor, spreadsheets and data analysis

Job Title: ADAPP Director

Description:
Position is under the supervision of the Tribal Administrator. This is a specialized administrative and supervisory position in directing and participating activities to prevent the abuse of alcohol and drugs. The employee coordinates the outreach, nonresidential and client placement services. Supervision is exercised over paraprofessional counselors and clerical staff.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of an A.A.
  • Must have at least three years of experience as a substance abuse counselor
  • Must have three years supervisory experience
  • Must have three years of sobriety & be an abstainer from all forms of drugs, including alcohol.
  • Bachelors degree in Social Service preferred.
  • Certification or Licensure for Substance Abuse Counseling.




Job Title: Assistant Mechanic

Entity: Cocopah Bend RV/Golf Resort
Type: Full-Time

Description:
This position assists in the maintenance of all Golf Course equipment. The Asst Mechanic reports directly to the Head Mechanic

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of small engine repairs and tune-ups, such as Kohler, 16hp. Ability to do welding repairs and fabrication.
  • Familiar with the mechanics of hydraulic systems and repair to such systems.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Two (2) years experience as a mechanic working on golf course equipment and mowers preferred.
  • Welding experience preferred.
  • Ability to write and speak English fluently.




Job Title: Head Mechanic

Description:
To maintain the automatic pinsetters and other operating equipment at the Center at the highest level of efficiency.

Qualifications:

Job Title: Tribal Administrator

Description:
This position involves the responsibility of directing, coordinating, supervising and planning all Tribal programs and services. These duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with general instructions from the Tribal Chairperson and Cocopah Tribal Council.
Interprets Tribal Council policies, administrative policies and relays instructions and Policy and procedural decisions of the Tribal Council to the Directors and Administrative staff for action or implementation.
Represents Tribal Council at conferences, workshops, meetings, etc., at the direction of the Tribal Council.
Extensive knowledge of Tribal Indian Law, Federal Regulations related to Tribal Government, structure of Tribal Governments, Tribal constitutions and bylaws and the administration of tribal policies, procedures, ordinances and resolution.

  • At least ten years experience with programs involving Indian people, and administering their needs.
  • Experience could be substituted for part of the college requirement.
  • A Masters Degree in Business Administration with emphasis on basic Indian Law or closely related field.

Job Title: Police Officer

Entity: Cocopah Tribal Government
Type: Full-Time

Description:
Under the direction of the Patrol Sergeant, the Officer will be responsible for the safety, security and the preservation of life and property by maintaining law and order within the boundaries of the Cocopah Nation Reservation. Assist with maintaining continual law enforcement and prevention services twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week. The Officer will have the responsibility of enforcing Federal, State or Tribal laws and ordinances as necessary. Work is subject to rotating shift assignments, odd hours of work and on-call status.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Must meet requirements set forth by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Council
  • Must meet Bureau of Indian Affairs Law Enforcement Standards and obtain S.L.E.C
  • If not Arizona P.O.S.T certified must be eligible for a law enforcement waiver; hold a BIA LE certification or successfully attend and complete an authorized State or BIA Police Academy to attain said certification as condition of employment

Description:
Under the immediate supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Lead directs cleaning activities during a shift. Assigns duties to employees and approves breaks, May participate in job interviews and make recommendations on employee evaluations.

  1. Once I have turned in my application, what is the review process?
    Once applications have been reviewed, the Human Resources Department will invite selected applicants to an interview panel. The panel will be comprised of at least one tribal member and the appropriate department director.

    The Cocopah Tribal Council receives the interview panel’s applicant reviews during its regular monthly council meeting. Based on the recommendations of the panel, the Tribal Council will make the final decision and the chosen candidate will be notified. The hiring process takes approximately one month.

  2. When is the best time to reach the Human Resources Department?
    You can reach the department at (928) 627-2102 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  3. I am interested in an open position at Cocopah Casino. Where do I apply?
    You may download an application from Cocopah Casino’s website or pick up an application in person at the casino. Once applications have been reviewed, the Human Resources Department will invite selected applicants to an interview.

  4. What are the Native American and current employee employment preference policies?
    In accordance with applicable law, if two applicants are equally qualified for a position, the candidate who is a tribal member or Native American will be given preference. The Cocopah Tribe continually works to improve the local economy and the standards of living for tribal members.

    Current employee employment preference states that if a current employee and a second applicant both apply for the same position and are equally qualified, the current employee will be awarded additional points by the interview panel.

  5. I am interested in an open position, and it says the position is "at will." What does this mean?
    "At will" means that, at any time, you or the Tribal Administration is free to terminate your employment with or without prior notice.

  6. If I am hired for a position with the Cocopah Indian Tribe, will I be offered benefits?
    After a 120-day training period, you will be eligible for life, medical, dental and prescription benefits if you are a full-time employee.
