This year’s new teachers orientation included a performance of traditional birdsong singing and dancing.
The Cocopah Indian Tribe on Thursday morning welcomed 25 new teachers to the Somerton School District. Each year the Tribe gives new teachers a tour of the Cocopah Museum, introductions to the Cocopah Tribal Council and staff, and provides a luncheon. Most Cocopah children kindergarten through 8th grade attend Somerton public schools. This year’s new teachers orientation included a performance of traditional birdsong singing and dancing.
