More than 150 Cocopah Students to Receive Awards

Students will receive these awards based on their grades, attendance, and participation in various school activities.

      On Thursday, the Cocopah Education Department will host its 17th Annual Cocopah Education Awards Banquet for students, their families and tribal members.

     “The most important thing to know is that the Cocopah Tribe is proud of its students,” said Wynnie Ortega, Education Coordinator.  “We support and encourage each of our kids.  I hope the students feel that we care, that they are important and special to us.”

     The department will present 163 students, kindergarten through 12th grade, with awards in recognition of their academic achievements during the 2013-2014 school year.

     Students receive these awards based on their grades, attendance, and participation in various school activities.

     Among Thursday night’s award winners are: 87 kindergarten through 5th grade students; 33 middle school students; 43 high school students; 16 middle school graduates; 8 high school graduates and one college graduate.
