Four Arizona local governments proclaimed September 2017 as Cocopah Month in honor of the 100th Anniversary of federal recognition. The Yuma County Board of Supervisors along with the cities of Yuma, Somerton, and San Luis partnered with the Cocopah Indian Tribe on commemorating this milestone.
