Summary
This position serves as a working supervisor and under the general direction of the Patrol Lieutenant, provides guidance and leadership to Patrol officers and creates a work environment that encourages ethical conduct, respectful interpersonal relations, open communication, innovative thinking, and creative problem solving with respect and sensitivity to the Cocopah culture. Work is subject to rotating shift assignments, odd hours of work and on-call status. This Sergeant will be responsible for the safety, security and the preservation of life and property by maintaining law and order within the boundaries of the Cocopah Nation Reservation. Assist with maintaining continual law enforcement and prevention services twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises and coordinates activities of Patrol Officers; ensure compliance with established policies, procedures and work standards.
- Conducts roll call of officers and issues duty assignments.
- Coordinates assignment and training for officers.
- Communicates departmental policies, procedures, regulations, guidelines, goals and objectives.
- Improve staff effectiveness by coaching, counseling, training and recommending disciplinary action for employees; planning, delegating, monitoring, and appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner.
- Interviews applicants as needed.
- Supervises, coordinates and participates in the development and implementation of community relations and crime prevention programs.
- Protects the property and lives of community members by patrolling assigned areas and addressing any suspicious persons and/or establishments.
- Interviews persons with complaints or inquiries and directs them to proper authorities if needed.
- Responds to all incidents and any other misdemeanors or felonies and secures the scene of the crime.
- Conducts preliminary investigations, gathers evidence, obtains witnesses, and makes arrests as required by applicable laws.
- Testifies in court to present evidence or testify against persons accused of criminal activity.
- Conducts investigations in vice activities, narcotics, traffic, burglary or reported incidents as assigned.
- Conducts routine checks of local businesses, residences and government agencies.
- Cooperate with Federal, State and local jurisdictions in the apprehension and detention of wanted persons with other agencies where law enforcement activities are involved
- Maintains positive relations with community members and agencies by educating and informing on crime prevention and related issues.
- Serves court papers, warrants, or subpoenas as required.
- Maintains appropriate documentation on incidences as required by policies and procedures.
- Attends training classes and seminars on police methods, techniques, safety, first aide, marksmanship, and related law enforcement activity.
- Communicates with local, state, regional and outside agencies and assists as needed.
- Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
- Provides written and verbal reports to supervisory personnel
- Engender positive community relations

Qualifications
- Must meet requirements set forth by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Council.
- Must meet Bureau of Indian Affairs Law Enforcement Standards and obtain S.L.E.C
- If not Arizona P.O.S.T certified must be eligible for a law enforcement waiver; hold a BIA LE certification or successfully attend and complete an authorized State or BIA Police Academy to attain said certification as condition of employment.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification may be obtained after hire.
- Successfully pass an oral board, background investigation, to include a polygraph, psychological, fingerprint check and medical exams.
- Must be at least 21 years of age,
- Must possess a valid State driver's license, internal applicants must not be on probationary status.
- Must never have been convicted of a felony or have been convicted of a misdemeanour within a period of two (3) years preceding application or never been convicted of an act of domestic violence involving a weapon or serious injury.
- No DUI’s or major traffic offenses within the past five (5) years and required to pass a physical examination.
- Must be willing to sign a confidentiality statement upon hire.
- Must be COVID-19 vaccinated or must obtain prior to the completion of the first 120-day training period.
Education and/or Experience
- Associates’ degree in related field, 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement leading to bachelor’s degree
- 1-year work specialized work experience or, 3-year work experience in related field or 3-years supervisory work experience, six (6) years of law enforcement experience preferred

Summary
Under the immediate supervision of the Slot Manager Assistant, the Slot Technician maintains efficient operations of all Casino slot and video machines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Walks the Casino floor to spot machine malfunctions.
- Diagnoses slot equipment and ticket redemption kiosk malfunctions to determine necessary service repairs.
- Repair and maintain slot machines and ticket redemption kiosk; fixes bill, ticket, printer, and hopper jams.
- Verify tampering incidents.
- Participate in clean up duties.
- Participate in slot drops.
- Participate in installation, movement, and removal of slot related equipment.

- Act as host and answer patrons concerns questions related to slot machines, redemption kiosk and casino promotions.
- Must understand and comply with departmental internal control regulations.

Summary
The Parks and Recreation Aide will assist the Parks and Recreation Director and Coordinator with programs and activities scheduled by Parks and Recreation tailored to the community. This position will provide support by assisting with administrative tasks, logistics, and other department operations as needed. This is a Part-Time position that doesn’t exceed 25 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with all programs, activities, and events organized by the department.
- Assist with customer service, inventories, setups, and teardowns, facility, and equipment maintenance.
- Helps with sports, arts and recreation programs in order to ensure that activities and events are available for the community.
- Helps develop art-based programs, managing equipment and supplies
- Guides participants in creative arts and crafts activities, providing instruction, organizing groups, and ensuring a safe and engaging environment.
- Provides clear and engaging instruction in various artistic techniques, such as painting, drawing, beading, etc.
- Data entry, record-keeping, preparing reports, and coordinating logistics.
- Providing information about programs, assisting clients, and observing and reporting concerns.
- Typing letters and reports as may be required from time to time
- Assisting in the planning and overseeing significant events
- Maintaining facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner.
- Assist with other recreation programs and community events, as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in the specific area of art and craft specialty, with the ability to demonstrate techniques effectively.
- Knowledge of recreation and Arts program administration and delivery.
- Effective verbal, written, listening communication skills.
- Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must be able to walk, stand for long periods; repetitive stooping and bending or kneeling.
- Demonstrate a dedication to the position and the Tribal community
- Ability to work occasional weekends and irregular schedules as needed
Qualifications
- Must be energetic, organized, apply good judgment, and have a genuine interest in the Cocopah community
- First Aid /CPR Certification or willingness to obtain.
- Food Handler’s Card or willingness to obtain.
- Must have an Arizona Driver’s license
- Must pass DPS/FBI fingerprint background investigation; felonies or 2 misdemeanors are an automatic disqualification.
- Applicant must be age 18 or older at the time of hire.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in recreation/sports work or experience in a related field.
