Summary Under the direction of the Patrol Sergeant, the Officer will be responsible for the safety, security and the preservation of life and property by maintaining law and order within the boundaries of the Cocopah Nation Reservation. Assist with maintaining continual law enforcement and prevention services twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week. The Officer will have the responsibility of enforcing Federal, State or Tribal laws and ordinances as necessary. Work is subject to rotating shift assignments, odd hours of work and on-call status. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Summary This position requires an experienced individual who is certified and has extensive knowledge in operating and managing public utility facilities, must have extensive knowledge in the operation of public water treatment, reverse osmosis (R.O), Water softener filtration, and wastewater facilities, and also have experience in solid waste collection. The position reports directly to the Public Works Director and is supervised by Casino Facilities Director, this person will operate/supervise and be responsible for the enterprises’ water treatment plant/wastewater collection sewer lift station Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the operation and maintenance of public water treatment systems/R.O/ Water softener filtration systems and their components, i.e. water treatment and storage facilities, and water service and distribution mains. The operation and maintenance of public wastewater treatment systems and their components, i.e. wastewater treatment facilities, sewer collection systems, lift stations, and stabilization ponds; The operation and maintenance of a solid waste collection and public works motorized vehicle and equipment i.e. Sanitation truck, water truck, dump truck, and backhoe, typically of a public works department. Provides safe drinking water and proper disposal of solid waste and treatment of public wastewater systems Supervises and manages the enterprise’s daily routine, assign tasks, and monitors the treatment facility, to ensure all test are completed and logged, schedules water testing to ensure the public water and wastewater collection facilities are following E.P.A. standards. Collects samples and makes routine chemical analyses of water plant at various points in the plant process. Monitors control panels and adjusts valves Reads and interprets charts, flow meters, and other gauges to determine the operating efficiency of the equipment. Maintains logs, records, and reports relative to the work. Requests supplies and materials to Public Works Director Must be able to be on-call, work holidays, and weekends if necessary Other duties may be assigned as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be able to report writing, planning, scheduling, and the assignment of duties and tasks. Must have the ability to maintain material inventory and equipment fleet. Have extensive knowledge in the operation and maintenance, of an iron and manganese removal filtration system and their components, wastewater treatment system, and their components. Must have knowledge in supervising the installation of water and/or sewer mains and valves, electrical system and their relations to power, electrical instruments, and controls. Have good mechanical and communication skills and the ability to train personnel. Must have knowledge of operating heavy motorized equipment. Must have the ability to follow all safety rules and procedures, including guidelines for the protection of one’s health and those of the general public. Be in good physical health, must be able to lift at least 50lbs, must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
